Created by martial arts novelist Gu Long, Chor Lau Heung is one of the most legendary heroes in Chinese fiction. Charming, chivalrous, and skilled in swordplay, the character was first made famous on television by veteran actor Adam Cheng. In 1984, TVB aired The New Adventure of Chor Lau Heung, with the dashing Michael Miu as the man in white opposite the late Barbara Yung. Current movie star Simon Yam co-stars in a villainous role in this classic Hong Kong drama.
Having withdrawn from the martial arts world, the carefree Chor Lau Heung leisurely wanders the land with his female companions. When he decides to visit a friend, however, troubles immediately seek him out. Through a series of mishaps and suspicious set-ups, Chor is framed for the theft of the Xue family sword and the deaths of various notable martial arts masters. The mysteries continue to pile up when he encounters old friend Yi Dian Hong (Wai Tin Ci), who appears to be being controlled by someone. A sinister conspiracy is brewing in the martial arts world and it all points to the Bat Cult led by the notorious Bat Prince...

After leading a sequestered life with his three intimate female friends, Chor Lau Heung (Michael Miu) returns on the occasion of his good friend Zo Hing Hau's birthday. At Zo's, he encounters many mysterious incidents, all of which turn out to be the tricks played by Zo's only daughter and her loved man Sit Bun, son of Zo's mortal enemy in an attempt to do away with the resentment between the two families. Knowing the truth, Chor decides to help them in secret. By chance, however, Sang Siu Ching (Barbara Yung) learns their plan and accidentally reveals it to Zo, who later unintentionally kills his own daughter, followed by Sit's suicide. Due to his interference in the whole thing, Chor gets wrongly suspected of stealing Sit's priceless sword and murdering some big figures with it. His life suddenly wanted by the whole martial world.
After that, Chor runs into another good friend Yee Dim Hong (Austin Wai), once a famous professional killer, whose wife is murdered by a secret organization headed by Mr. Bat, who wants Yee to return to the martial world to work for him. To help his friend and to clear his own name, Chor is adamant to look into the organization to reveal Mr. Bat's true identity as Yuen Tsui Wan (Simon Yam), a man with a complicated origin and that he founded the organization for some unknown reason. As everything begins to unfold, Chor finds himself with an unavoidable duel of life or death with Yuen...
